Game Start!

I first noticed the Looking Glass display for holographic when I watched the video by Linus Tech Tips. Linus introduced the excellent equipment with detailed information and the disassembly process. Thanks to Linus, I got to know this holographic display firm.

Naturally, as a tech enthusiast and a 3D content creator, I want to purchase one immediately. The price is sweet, and all the documents online are available. But when I want to book one online, I find that it is not available to deliver to China mainland. So, I searched online for other ways to purchase a Looking Glass Portrait. I contacted a reseller in China. They do have Looking Glass Portrait for sale, but the price reaches 5000 yuan (720 dollars). I think it’s too expensive so I start my hunting again.

Finally, I find a Japanese enthusiast who wanted to sell his Looking Glass Portrait on a second-hand trading platform. He offered a sweet price and I received the package one month later from Japan to China.

Ready? Go!

With the help of documents offered on the official website, the setup process is pretty easy. I downloaded some demo files from the official website and it works well on Looking Glass Portrait.

Since I am a 3D content creator and junior game developer, I tested the Unity plugins immediately. The test scenes and scripts clearly show the workflow and what I can do with Holographic. Maybe in the near future, I can develop a holographic game demo to show the potential of Hologram.

The second software I choose is Cinema 4D, which is not in the supported plugin list of Looking Glass. I searched online and watched this useful video, which greatly provides a way to set and render 3D content with Cinema 4D. It also works well with the Redshift Renderer.
